Drying of eucalyptus logs from plantations with different spacing between trees

چکیده
The adoption of dense plantations can reduce the drying time logs, by optimizing this step. This study evaluated eucalyptus wood from with different spacing (3 × 4; 3 3; 2 1 m). Five trees were selected per treatment. Logs removed base and at 50% 100% commercial height for evaluation 60 days. diameters wider bigger, productivity hectare was not affected between trees. planting did affect initial moisture, which higher those top logs denser showed a rate 2.5 times than same treatment greater spacing, reducing final moisture 37.2 to 18.8%. reached equilibrium after period. reduction in reduced difference parameter trunks.

Mixed-species plantations of Eucalyptus with nitrogen fixing trees: a review
Mixed-species plantations of Eucalyptus with a nitrogen (N2) fixing species have the potential to increase productivity while maintaining soil fertility, compared to Eucalyptus monocultures. However, it is difficult to predict combinations of species and sites that will lead to these benefits. We review the processes and interactions occurring in mixed plantations, and the influence of 5 specie...
متن کاملTwo new Phytophthora species from South African Eucalyptus plantations.
A recent study to determine the cause of collar and root rot disease outbreaks of cold tolerant Eucalyptus species in South Africa resulted in the isolation of two putative new Phytophthora species. Based on phylogenetic comparisons using the ITS and beta-tubulin gene regions, these species were shown to be distinct from known species. These differences were also supported by robust morphologic...

Eucalyptus globulus Labill is the main exotic broadleaf species planted and managed for pulp and energy production in Spain, where it covers an area of more than 0.6 million ha. The climatic and soil conditions of the planting areas range from the predominantly acidic or fertile soils developed over limestone in Atlantic areas of the north and northwest of the Iberian Peninsula to the less weat...
متن کاملNitrogen-Fixing Bacteria in Eucalyptus globulus Plantations
Eucalypt cultivation is an important economic activity worldwide. In Portugal, Eucalyptus globulus plantations account for one-third of the total forested area. The nutritional requirements of this crop have been well studied, and nitrogen (N) is one of the most important elements required for vegetal growth. N dynamics in soils are influenced by microorganisms, such as diazotrophic bacteria (D...
متن کاملAnalysis of Spacing for Spotted Gum Plantations for Maximising Merchantable Logs’ Volume in South East Queensland, Australia
Spotted gum (Corymbia citriodora subspecies Variegata) has the potential to be the major hardwood species for large-scale plantations in South East Queensland, Australia, but production research is limited due to the lack of age of research plots. Optimal spacing is a major subject of concern. Based on time series data from a spotted gum experiment site, growth performance is analysed for five ...
